How it works
SkyKeepsake is a map of the real sky where you can dedicate a star as a gift. The dedication is symbolic: it lives on our map, it is not an IAU name and not ownership of the star.
1. Choose a star
Open the home map or the catalogue. Search by name or constellation, or tap the sky. Stars that are free to dedicate can be composed; a star that already has a live dedication cannot be taken by someone else until that dedication ends.
2. Personalise
On the compose screen you write who it is for, a message, an occasion, an optional photo, and how long it should stay on the map. Looks (presets and extras) do not change the price. You pay only the duration — including a seven-day option at €0.
3. Pay
We hold the star while you finish. If the total is greater than zero, you pay with PayPal in euro. If you chose the free week, there is no PayPal step. You get an order number on the thank-you page.
4. We review
A person checks the text and photo before anything goes public. That is usually done within two working days. We refuse illegal or abusive content and, for paid orders, refund in that case.
5. It goes live
The dedication appears on the star on the map and on the star’s public page. You can share that link. It is the product: a place in the sky with your words, not a paper certificate from an astronomical union. A downloadable keepsake PDF is planned; until it exists, the map page is what you send.
6. Time passes
When a timed dedication expires it leaves the public map. Lifetime stays. You can write to us from contact if something looks wrong. Full legal text: Terms, Privacy, FAQ.
